Seeing Issues As You Age? We Can Help!

Your eyesight can have a significant impact on your quality of life, and as you age, your sight may start to deteriorate. Although this is a completely natural part of ageing, worsening eyesight can affect your performance at work or school, or impact your ability to play sports.

The first step for protecting the longevity of your vision is to make regular appointments to see your optometrist.

Why See an Optometrist?

Seeing an optometrist is not just for updating the prescription for your glasses; it’s vital for managing your eye health as you grow older. During an eye exam, your optometrist tests for the strength of your vision as well as screens for eye diseases that could be developing without your knowledge.

Diseases like cataracts, glaucoma, and age-related macular degeneration are more likely to develop as you grow older and can often develop without symptoms. The only way to catch these diseases before they cause permanent damage to your eyesight is to book an appointment to see your optometrist.

At Complete Family Eyecare we recommend you schedule your exam:

  • Adults under the age of 40 years should undergo an eye examination every 1 to 2 years.
  • Adults above the age of 4o years should undergo an eye examination every year.

What To Expect From An Eye Exam

Complete Family Eyecare recommends to book an eye exam every one to three years up to the age of 40, then once every one to two years after that.

Before the exam, your optometrist will have a conversation with you about your eye health history and address any concerns or questions you might have before moving on with the exam.

Your eyes will be checked for it’s visual acuity, responsiveness, and how well they work together. Your optometrist will also screen for signs of eye disease and evaluate your eyes for other signs, which can affect your overall health.

At the end of the exam, your optometrist will recommend treatment solutions (if you need them), which can include medications, prescription lenses, contact lenses, and more. Book your exam today and start taking control of your eye’s health.
